I forge these minimalist bottle openers completely by hand using my own hand forged hammers, punches and drifts. These bottle openers make the perfect gift for a homebrewer, craft beer lover, beer drinker, and anyone who would love a small original memento from New Orleans.

To forge these one of kind creations, I heat the railroad spike to around 2,000 degrees and use a heavy hammer and punch to create the general shape. I then use a rounding hammer to work the opener smooth, and forge the indentation that will fit under the bottle cap. After forging I finish the opener with my own special mixture of local organic beeswax and oil. This mixture darkens the steel and provides a durable coating that will last for decades.
